Closing the Loop on Data, Documents and Transactions

If you are running JD Edwards or Oracle E-Business Financials, your world just got better.  By a bunch.   I had the opportunity last week to sit in on a demonstration of a new interface that connects our DocuSphere suite of products with InsightSoftware.com’s reporting products for JD Edwards and Oracle E-Business.

InsightSoftware.com has long had the best reporting tool you can get for reporting against your JDE data.  In recent years they have added a like offering for the EBS line of ERP software.  While we all love our JDE and EBS systems, it can be a little hard to get some of the reporting out of them that you want.  Insight makes it simple and fast.  If you don’t have it, check it out at their website.

At Image Integration Systems (IIS), our DocuSphere software suite has long been the best integrated workflow and content management application suite for the JD Edwards ERP products (World and EnterpriseOne).  In addition to great integration for standard workflow and documents across a host of applications in JDE, DocuSphere has the best Accounts Payable Automation you can get for JDE and now for Oracle EBS and SAP.

Now these best of breed products can work together to close the loop on gaining visibility into your ERP data, transactions, and associated documents.  IIS and InsightSoftware.com have worked together to provide an interface from the Insight Software Suite (for both JD Edwards and Oracle E-Business Suite) that allows you to drill down from an Insight Report directly to supporting documents or workflow transactions in DocuSphere.

The set-up is simple, fast, and flexible.  From your Insight report you can select key linking fields (such as JDE company number, document number and document type) to be used for the drill down.  Once configured (a matter seconds or, at the most, minutes) you can click inside the report, select the drill down method (you can have multiple configured per report) and the Insight Report will instantly drill down into DocuSphere to select the matching DocuSphere document(s) and DocuSphere will display that document to you.

Just imagine that you are working on a month-end closing in JDE or EBS and trying to reconcile a particular expense account.  You can open an Insight report, find the account in question, drill down to the transactions, find a transaction that you have a question about and then click on it to have an image of the associated invoice (or credit note) appear instantly on your desktop.  Would that help?

Are you a public company subject to audits?  How simple would it be to give an auditor access to Insight Software reporting and DocuSphere thus allowing them full access to the transactions, documents, and workflow history for all of your accounts payable?  They can see the invoice, see who approved it and when, all without having to dig through files or have your busy staff dig through the files for them.

To make this even better, with DocuSphere’s repository connectors, if you have documents stored in other repositories such as SharePoint, Documentum, FileNet or one of the close to 30 major repositories DocuSphere has connectors to, you can access those documents via this interface as well.  DocuSphere, with its connectors, can provide a unified view across all of your repositories for searching within DocuSphere or by linking from Insight Software.

The drill down links can be set up to use ANY field on your Insight report that is also in DocuSphere.

If you are an existing Insight Software and DocuSphere customer who is current on maintenance, this functionality will be available at no additional charge sometime after the first of the year (Merry Christmas!).  If you have Insight Software and not DocuSphere, or vice versa, you will want to contact someone at either organization right away to see how you can take advantage of this game changing integration and gain full visibility and control of your data, documents, and transactions now.
