Top 10 Recommendations for Getting the Most out of Your Oracle OpenWorld Experience
While I have been to and worked many tradeshows over the years, this year will be my first experience at Oracle OpenWorld. As a result, I asked my colleague, Beth Beach, who has participated in numerous Oracle OpenWorld events with Image Integration Systems for some insights as a first timer. I thought other first-time participants at this event and even those who have participated in the past who want to get more out of their Oracle OpenWorld experiences would find Beth’s feedback of value.
Here are Beth’s top 10 recommendations (with some of my comments as a trade show and event veteran sprinkled in below):
- The Food! Don’t forget lunch is served in the Howard Street Tent, and maybe try one of San Francisco’s many great restaurants – a favorite of ours is Chevy’s right across the street from the Moscone.
- The Oracle Appreciation Event Wednesday night on Treasure Island, including big name performers such as Sting and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. (We might even talk Beth into singing some Karaoke in San Francisco! Sorry Beth, I couldn’t resist.)
- Pier 39 for shopping, dining, and don’t forget to visit the Sea Lions.
- Networking with your peers – tens of thousands of them. (From my perspective, this can be one of the most valuable experiences from a show. Even those of you who may be shy, I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and meet some new people. You should be able to learn some new information and share your insights with others through this experience. We invite you to come around our booth to chat for a few minutes while at the show.)
- Exhibition Halls – Hundreds of exhibitors are waiting to speak to you about your business needs – especially Image Integration Systems at Moscone West Booth # 3736 to discuss our DocuSphere All-in-One for Accounts Payable solution for JD Edwards and Oracle E- Business Suite. You can also register to win one of three Fujitsu ScanSnap S1100 scanners we’re giving away daily on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at our booth. (Don’t wait until you get to Oracle OpenWorld to make your plans for what you want to see. I hear we can expect in excess of over 50,000 attendees at the event. That’s more people than live in my hometown.)
- Educational Sessions – Keynote, Applications, Technology – everything you need to know in one place. (If you haven’t already done so, please go in and schedule your sessions. I’ve been told these fill up very quickly and you may get shut out from a very valuable session should you not preregister for your events.)
- Scene and Be Heard Theater – Moscone West Exhibition Hall – Attend 20-minute presentations to see how Oracle’s top partners solve common business problems for Oracle customers. See Image Integration Systems at 12:00 noon on Monday, where we will discuss the DocuSphere Difference for Accounts Payable Automation including Mobile AP integrated with Oracle E-Business Suite and JD Edwards applications. (Hope to see you at our session on Monday at 12:00 noon.)
- Oracle OpenWorld Pavilions – find solutions in key business and technology areas, with partner experts standing by to discuss your specific challenges. Be sure to visit Image Integration Systems at the JD Edwards Pavilion located at the Westin St. Francis.
- Show your Badge – if you find that you actually have a few unscheduled hours during the conference, take advantage of exclusive discounts offered by dozens of restaurants, retailers and local attractions to experience the best that the city has to offer – just show your badge!
- So much to see – if you happen to have a couple of extra days set aside for sightseeing, some of our favorites are Alcatraz Island, San Francisco city tour, Muir Woods, Sausalito. (Sorry Giants fans – it doesn’t appear that you’ll be able to see the defending World Champions in the Major League Baseball playoffs again this year; however, if you’re Detroit Tigers fans like Beth and me, you might find us watching our Tigers in off-hours at the show.)
Have a great trip to San Francisco and enjoy Oracle OpenWorld. If you come around our booth, we’d love to have the opportunity to meet you personally. Better yet – if you’d like to schedule a specific time to get together to discuss accounts payable automation while at the show, please reach out via our Contact Us page.
